Islay is a PhD candiate at RMIT University working under the supervision of Dr. Jean-Philippe Tetienne and Prof. Brant Gibson. While he is currently working with defects in hexagonal boron nitride and finding practical applications for their sensing properties, he much rathers studying two-dimensional materials and related devices using widefield quantum microscopy. Islay finds joy in editing for the Defective Club as he knows he should be reading papers instead.
